A MACKAY business has continued its move into the Asian market with a product completely designed and manufactured in the city.

Filta-Wash Mackay, which services and sells a range of filters and associated products, exported a Complete Air Filter Washing System to Asia.

Utilising more than 47 years of air filtration experience and knowledge, Filta-Wash's Douglas McLauchlan designed and manufactured the system for Leighton Contractors (ASIA) LTD in Hong Kong.

Proud of his achievement, Mr McLauchlan said: "We have utilised state-of-the-art technology and design to produce an efficient and effective system.

"Prior to the current project, we have designed and manufactured similar systems for BHP Indonesia and numerous companies in Australia."

He said the system provided an opportunity for companies to support their environmental commitments, reduce servicing and purchasing costs and assist in reducing their carbon footprint.

"Feedback from our customers is that operating costs can be reduced by up to 80%," Mr McLauchlan said.

"We have utilised local content and engaged local businesses to produce the finished product.

"Brian Martin's Sheet Metal has fabricated all of these systems and Brian Saxby has been our consulting engineer.

"Rapid Electrical designed and manufactured all the electrical systems.

"We are very proud of the finished product and it is a credit to all concerned."

As part of the current project Filta-Wash Mackay had been commissioned to train the local staff of Leighton Contractors (ASIA) LTD in Hong Kong, in the next few weeks.

The training will cover how to operate the system, conduct the inspection process and maintain the equipment.

"I am very satisfied with the end product and extremely excited to see our system in operation next month in Hong Kong," Mr McLauchlan said.
